Scenario 20 — Friend withdrawing emotionally
Uncertainty creates assumptions; patience and clarity are needed.
Situation (full narrative)
Over the last month or so, Mark has noticed that a close friend has started pulling back a little.
At first it was small things — messages that were not returned as quickly as usual or invitations that were declined because his friend said he was busy.
Mark did not think much about it until a couple of conversations felt slightly distant. The tone was polite but shorter than normal, and one planned get‑together was canceled at the last minute.
Now Mark keeps replaying recent interactions in his head trying to figure out if he might have said something wrong without realizing it.
At the same time, he also knows people sometimes go through stressful seasons privately, and he is not sure whether this situation is about something he did or something completely unrelated.
