Scenario 33 — Conflicting advice during a major decision

Multiple voices and competing opinions create pressure for certainty and quick resolution.

Situation (full narrative)

Andrew has been trying to decide between two opportunities that both appear reasonable on the surface.

One option offers stability and familiarity. The other carries more risk but could open doors that have been closed for years.

Every time Andrew thinks he has settled on one direction, a new thought or conversation seems to reopen the question.

A friend recently suggested that the safer option might be the wiser path. Another friend argued almost the opposite, saying that opportunities for growth sometimes require stepping into uncertainty.

Now Andrew finds himself analyzing every angle of the situation — trying to imagine how each decision might unfold months or years from now — yet the more he analyzes it, the harder it becomes to feel settled.

Training exercise

  • Write the situation in one sentence identifying the central problem.
  • List the events or behaviors that keep appearing in the story.
  • Separate objective facts from the conclusions the person is drawing.
  • Ask whether the pressure is coming from patterns, people, or internal reactions.
  • Choose one Authority card that establishes God's rule over the situation.
  • Choose one Identity card so the intercessor avoids reacting emotionally.
  • Choose one Situation card that best names the recurring issue.
  • State the prayer focus in one sentence.
Use this to tighten your framing, not to chase details.
