Scenarios Scenario 34 — Repeated spiritual interference

Scenario 34 — Repeated spiritual interference

Obstacles keep appearing when ministry begins to move forward, and discernment is needed before escalation.

Situation (full narrative)

A small ministry team has been preparing for an outreach they believe God clearly opened. The planning has not been perfect, but it has been thoughtful and unusually unified.

What has become hard to ignore is how often momentum seems to get interrupted right when things start moving. A key volunteer gets suddenly sidelined. An important detail falls apart. A conflict shows up out of nowhere. Then just enough progress returns that the team starts again — only to hit another obstacle.

Some of the problems could easily be explained as normal ministry difficulty. That is part of what makes the situation hard to frame.

Still, a few people on the team have started asking whether there may be more going on because the interruptions are so persistent and oddly timed.

Now the group is trying to decide whether they are dealing with ordinary resistance, organizational weakness, or something spiritually oppositional.

Training exercise

  • Write the situation in one sentence without over-spiritualizing the setbacks.
  • List the repeated patterns that make the obstacles feel unusual.
  • Separate normal ministry difficulty from the features that raise questions about possible interference.
  • Identify whether the dominant issue is poor organization, relational strain, discouragement, or possible resistance.
  • Choose one Authority card that keeps prayer anchored in God’s rule over the ministry.
  • Choose one Identity card so the intercessor remains steady and not reactionary.
  • Choose one Situation card that best names the recurring pressure.
  • State the prayer focus in one sentence.
Use this to tighten your framing, not to chase details.
