week 2
Week 2 – Authority and identity
His authority and our identity
Short summary
This week begins at the start of the prayer flow with Authority and Identity. Prayer is grounded in what is true, not in how we feel.
Authority names what is true about God. Identity names what is true about us because we belong to Him.
This week is about learning to pray from God’s authority and from our identity in Christ instead of from fear, performance, or confusion.
Learning goal
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- understand why authority and identity come first in the prayer flow
- choose authority and identity cards more carefully
- distinguish between the identity of the person praying and the person being prayed for
- see how authority and identity change the tone of prayer before the situation is even addressed
This week’s practice focus
Take one current personal situation. Write one sentence describing the situation with no emotion, just facts. Choose one Authority card and one Identity card, then pray for two to three minutes using only those two truths.
